HPI's Erik Shauver Talks ESE
The designer of the Blitz and ESE talks to madpete about it's development, and the future of the class...
Madpete: "Why do you think Short Course has captured the
imagination of the RC world so much?"
Erik: “Short Course taps into the scale realism that traditional off road R/C vehicles are missing. I mean how realistic is a 1/8th Truggy/ Buggy? This class has the feeling of "the type of truck that should have been all along." What other vehicle can you buy for under £200 that can be bashed this hard, raced, and still looks like a scale version of reality? Also, when you can bang fenders and touch bumper to bumper, its just makes things more fun! At the end of the day, it's all about making sure driving the Blitz is fun!”
Madpete: "The Blitz is already a blast to drive, and is one of the only cars I just can't break! why release the ESE and what does it bring to the table?"
Erik: "Where the Blitz is meant to durable and confidence inspiring for the newcomer to the hobby, the ESE is more tailored to the performance minded R/C enthusiast. The ESE allowed me to stretch my creative freedom and make something beyond the R/C industry standards of all black with a "per brand" anodised colour. At the same time, the white vs. black color coding opened the door to go towards the performance end of the spectrum with material selection while showing which part is which with a quick glance. The driving response of the ESE is a big step ahead of the Blitz RTR to match its target buyer"
